Richmond Club
Richmond Club has over 22,000 members and supports 197 community groups through financial and in-kind support. They are proud to be the largest private employer in the region with 169 employees, they are also the biggest service provider in the North West district. Making a conscious decision to employ people with disability has had tremendous outcomes, elevating the work ethics of the staff and the customers have also embraced it.
The Club employs Gerard Innes, a valuable staff member and Greenkeeper. Working at Richmond means a lot to Gerard, on good days, he feels great about the work he does and feels better about himself. “The guys here are very good people and they help me out when I’m stuck. I’ve learnt a lot of stuff here”, said Gerard.
Mark Williams, the Head Greenkeeper said “There’s no such thing at Richmond Golf Club as anyone with a disability, we’re all equal. One of the biggest assets with Gerard is he’s very keen to learn. Anything we’ve thrown at him, he’s been more than competent in doing the work”.
Richmond Club have seen the possibilities – will your workplace see them too?
